This collection of 16 bare root plants has been curated by expert gardeners to thrive in shady areas while bringing color and texture to your landscape. Your shade garden comes with complete planting and care instructions to guide you every step of the way.
The Astilbe and Bleeding Heart varieties in this collection also attract butterflies, adding even more to enjoy about your garden.
Garden includes:
4 Fern "Leatherwood"
4 Bleeding Heart "Spectabilis"
4 Astilbe "Federsee"
4 Hosta "Big Daddy"
Leatherwood Fern is an elegant variety with an arching, vase-like shape and leathery, blue-green fronds. Over time it forms a large clump and does not spread. In most regions, it retains its color during winter. It's deer-resistant, long-lived and zero care, too!
Bleeding Heart is a long-lived, carefree perennial that pairs well with Hostas and Ferns. Gorgeous pink blooms hang from cascading branches. It also attracts butterflies.
"Big Daddy" Hosta covers a lot of ground; mature plants reach up to 28" tall and 40" across. Great for fulling bare spots! Blue-gray leaves are 12" wide and have a quilted texture that protects them from slugs. It produces lavender flowers in mid-summer.
Astilbes brighten shady areas with brilliant mid-summer color. Plume-like flowers bloom above deep green foliage. Easy-care perennial attracts butterflies and beneficial insects, and they make good cut flowers too.
