Elegant and practical, the Oil-Burning Miner's Safety Lamp saved countless lives of those who spent their lives in subterranean coal mines. This reproduction lantern is authentic in every detail and is constructed in brass with an antique bronze finish.

Originally designed by Sir Humphry Davy and George Stephenson in the early 1800s, the safety lantern design allowed miners to carry an enclosed flame without the risk of igniting flammable gases that collected in the mines.

This faithful reproduction is fully functional with a cotton wick and glass chamber. Operates on standard lamp oil (not included).
