Our Stone Cottage Birdhouse has charm, style and many detailed accents.
This birdhouse is made of solid, durable pine, and its roof is shingled in cedar. The clean, white trim beautifully contrasts the river stone siding and bold, red door that matches the landing floor. Realistic windows are adorned with flower boxes, and at the front, birds will be welcomed by a classic Adirondack chair and a metal bucket filled with Fatwood.
The 1¼" dia. opening accommodates a variety of songbirds, such as wrens, finches, chickadees and nuthatches. The back wall is removable for cleaning. Hang by the nylon cord and watch the birds move in.
Over time, this birdhouse will require some easy weatherproofing if used outdoors. Avoid chemicals and sealants that can be harmful to wildlife. We suggest preserving the wood with a clear, UV-rated polyurethane product recommended for marine use. Apply only to the exterior of the house (not the interior nesting quarters). Depending upon weather exposure and wear, you may need to reapply yearly.
