One temperature reading is taken by a built-in sensor within the digital display, and an additional reading is taken by a wireless thermometer sensor you can place either outdoors or in another room. The remote sensor has a 330' wireless transmission range and updates data every 16 seconds. The base unit requires three AAA batteries and the remote sensor uses two AA batteries. No batteries included.
