U.S. Armed Forces Dollar Coin
Inspired by the valor of our defenders of freedom, this exclusive U.S. Armed Forces Dollar Coin salutes the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force and Marines on the historic Eisenhower dollar. With a colorful graphic on one side featuring a male representative from each service division, this patriotic coin is a welcome gift for any veteran, individual currently serving in the military or coin collector.
Minted from 1971 to 1978, this famous dollar coin honors America's 34th President and heroic military leader of WWII, Dwight D. Eisenhower. Designed by Frank Gasparro, this Eisenhower dollar coin was originally struck for circulation in base metal and for collectors in 40% silver. It was also the first dollar coin issued by the Mint since the Peace dollar series in 1935. President Richard Nixon signed legislation authorizing this new coin on December 31, 1970.
