Mad Bluebird Trivet

Select quantity:

As grumpy-looking as ever, the hero of Michael L. Smith's classic photograph is now featured on this Mad Bluebird Trivet. The iconic image is reproduced on a handcrafted ceramic trivet with a wood frame finished with a handsome cherry stain. While trivets are designed to lie between hot dishes and your table, this one's too cute to cover up. He might just end up as a piece of wall art, but rest assured, this wood and ceramic trivet is up to all the tasks of its intended purpose.

On a cold wintry day in February 1979, wildlife photographer Michael L. Smith set up his tripod in his backyard and pointed his camera at a fencepost. Then he settled in for the wait in hopes of capturing a picture of a bird. At precisely the right moment, a male Eastern bluebird flew into the backyard, landed on the fencepost, squatted down, fluffed his feathers, and peered directly at the camera. It was then that the very unamused—some would say downright angry—bluebird made photographic history. Grumpy Perhaps, but also cute as can be. Enjoy this memorable image on our Mad Bluebird Trivet either as a functional trivet or just as a colorful piece of art.
