George Carruth started as a sculptor for American Greetings Cards in his late 20s. He started carving images on stones with basic hand tools as a way to unwind and practice his sculpting techniques. His wife Deborah encouraged George to enter art shows to exhibit his garden stones. And that's how it all began! They launched Carruth Studio in 1983, which continues to thrive today at their studio in Waterville, Ohio.
