Artist Susan Lordi designed this Willow Tree® Starry Night Nativity to tell a story and engage the viewer in a small space. All the figurines fit into an 8" box that opens up as a triptych and reveals a starry night encircling the intimate scene of the birth of Christ. Lordi uses deep gradated blues and jewel-like gold as a reference to historical art objects. This nativity's embellished golden surfaces are meant to symbolize light, energy, hope and inner strength. A stunning piece that can be displayed year after year or handed down generation to generation. Place this starry night nativity scene on a table or hang it on a wall. It's meant to be an accent that can be displayed year-round, open or closed. The outside doors reflect nature and the fascinating life cycles of regeneration, renewal and rebirth. Hinged carved resin box with applied gold leaf. Two keyholes for hanging.
Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Susan Lordi holds a Master of Fine Arts in Textile Design and her fiber art has been exhibited internationally. Inspired by dance, art history, nature and personal experiences with family and friends, her figurative sculptures speak in quiet ways to heal, comfort and protect. In addition to working in sculpture, Susan has spent years making art with cloth.
