The Willow Tree® "Simple Joys" Figurine strives to remind us not to overlook things we might otherwise take for granted. Originally sculpted by textile artist Susan Lordi, a young woman with wavy hair, pulled back in a ponytail, carries a bunch of lovely violet flowers in the folds of her gown. "I like to walk in the tangles of my garden and discover little jewels that pop up or volunteer through the weeds," says artist Susan Lordi. "Usually not planned or cultivated, these colorful surprises never fail to make me smile. Like a spur-of-the-moment visit from a good friend who makes me laugh, these spontaneous happenings, however simple, can bring so much joy."
Cast in resin from Susan Lordi's original sculpture, each piece is painted by hand and will spread cheer and beauty for years to come. A heart-warming accent for any kitchen counter, desktop or console, this endearing figurine also makes a welcome gift for any close friend, neighbor or family member.
Inspired by dance, art history, nature and personal experiences with family and friends, Susan Lordi uses figurative sculptures to reflect our relationship with people and the world around us. In addition to working in sculpture, Susan has spent years making art with cloth. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, she holds a Master of Fine Arts in Textile Design and her fiber art has been exhibited internationally.
