Artisan Faire is the only place online where you will find this lovely Glass-Enameled Octopus created by the talented artists at Bovano of Cheshire. What's more, each piece in this limited production run will be signed by Bovano lead designer and president, Jim Flood. Fans and collectors of Bovano's beautiful enameled artwork are sure to give this octopus a thumbs up...maybe even eight of them.

    Details
Each piece begins with a sheet of copper, from which a variety of shapes are cut and then forged to add dimension. In a delicate process, highly skilled artists add layer upon layer of individual grains of powdered glass in a variety of colors. The piece is then heated in a kiln to 1600 degrees, fusing the glass to the copper and enhancing the brilliance of the colors. This process may be repeated several times to build up a one-of-a-kind blend of dazzling colors. Finally, the component pieces are affixed to a frame, completing the arrangement.

The beauty of our glass-enameled octopus is enhanced by the addition of several small embellishments. A shimmering piece of copper is shaped like a branch of coral, several strands of shiny brass evoke swirling sea grasses and a solitary shining scallop shell rests near a coiled tentacle. Crafted with enormous care and style, this unique signed Bovano glass-enameled octopus is sure to delight collectors and all lovers of nautical art.
    When they ask...
Bovano has been making exquisite enameled art since 1952, and their marine life collection already includes a variety of fish, turtles, shellfish, seahorses and shells. This glass-enameled octopus is among the first of its kind for these artists as they venture into the realm of cephalopods. While a real octopus has the ability to change color to blend into its surroundings, this glass-enameled example will retain its striking blue, pink and golden coloring for years to come.
