Pretty, but difficult to useComments about Product:
I bought this basket to use in place of a wreath on the front door of our beach condo. It's quite pretty in person—looks just like the photo—and it has a faint, pleasant fragrance. It arrived in reasonable time and was well protected in its packaging.
But the bottom of the wire basket has such large spaces that the piecy moss that fills the bottom was falling out at an alarming rate. I cut a piece of plastic gutter mesh to size and wired it to the bottom, which took over an hour to do neatly.
The basket is too thick to hang between a regular door and a storm door. I don't count that against the rating, but I do think its front-to-back measurement should be included on the product page.
Giving up on that idea, I thought I’d hang it on the storm door (which is in a protected exterior hallway) or next to the door. However, I found I still couldn't hang it on the door or a wall without further modification, because the hanger handle is not at the back of the basket, but centered front to back. So if you try to hang it on a nail or hook by the decorative handle, it will tilt backward, looking a little silly.
I've ordered a 4-inch decorative bracket to hang it out from the wall beside the door. I hope that works, because I am just about out of tricks!
If you're thinking about setting it out rather than hanging it, you should know that the basket bottom, with or without the mesh I added, is not stable enough to sit up without help. You'd have to secure it somehow.
Bottom line: I would probably recommend this to a friend, but with a number of caveats. And the friend would have to have just the right place and purpose for the item, which seems to be a pretty narrow set of circumstances.
