Take a journey through the history of the railroad by way of United States Postage Stamps in our Railroad Commemorative Stamp Collection. Honoring the 125th year anniversary of the B&O Railroad is a 1952 three-cent stamp. The B&O Railroad was chartered by merchants hoping to extend their trade into the western United States. Remembered as the nation's first common carrier, the B&O received its name from the original starting point, Baltimore, and its intended final destination, the Ohio River. Continue your ride to Chicago's Union Station where on May 20, 1982 the two-cent stamp was unveiled honoring the classic 1870s steam locomotive with its funnel-shaped smokestack. The Transcontinental Railroad was honored in 1944, 75 years after the last spike of the Transcontinental was driven into the ground in Utah to join the Central Pacific and the Union Pacific Railroad companies. Ride the rail from Utah to Ohio, August 26, 1999 and get aboard the Daylight and 20th Century Limited luxury passenger train 33-cent stamps. The final stop on the stamp collection's journey honors the 1880s Handcar by way of the 1983 three-cent stamp. All stamps are secured in a vinyl pocket folder measuring approximately six by four inches. An interesting and informative gift for any history buff, stamp collector or train lover, our railroad stamp collection includes a Certificate of Authenticity.

    Comments about Product:
I purchased this collection for my husband for his birthday because he loves trains, but I was just a bit disappointed when it arrived due to its small size compared to the price. BUT, it does have some really nice historical train stamps included in the collection. My husband really liked it so I guess that is all that matters! He likes the small size because it is easy to store, so I guess it has its advantages!
