Not reliable

Reviewed on: 11/28/2012 12:00:00 AM

This is my second unit and still have problems, First difficult to access Radio Control signal. Called Tech support and was told where to place and all of the things that interfere, very little of this was in instructions. Second had difficulty getting signal from outdoor unit and again was told by tech support that distances are under "optimal" circumstances and all of the things you must avoid. Bottom line it must be out of sun (obvious), can't have any water fall on it so it must be sheltered, can't have any metal between remote and indoor unit. Very little suggestions for optimal locations. Accuracy variations are inacurate (checked with more accurate measurements). This unit has excellent features but doesn't measure up to hype.

Buyer Beware

Reviewed on: 11/26/2012 12:00:00 AM

Purchased this Dec 2010 as a gift to self. Should have returned it when not all the functions would work but the temperature and day were sufficient. Winter 2011 the outdoor sensor quit rendering this as an expensive indoor themometer. Currently looking for a replacement but not from this brand. Cannot justify the price due to the lack of reliability.

An old fashioned honest company

Reviewed on: 11/14/2012 12:00:00 AM

Yes, it was a pain to program but it worked great.I had bought it as a Christmas present for my husband in 2008. My husband had breathing issues and we would rely on this system to determine whether I would need to up the humidity in the house - the poor sensor "died" yesterday and eventhough I replaced the batteries, it refused to work. The company is sending me a new sensor. Didn't think there existed companies like that anymore. Thank you.

Unreliable

Reviewed on: 2/6/2012 12:00:00 AM

Product is very inaccurate. Inside temperature is correct in a side by side comparison with known good weather station but humidity level is way off. Outside temperature reading varies as much as 4 degrees with sensor being in same location as comparison sensor. I was hoping to have a second weather station located in another room of the house but this proved to be unreliable.

LIKE KNOWING TEMPERATURES. DIFFICULT/CONFUSING SETUP. MOUNTING SCREWS FOR OUTDOOR SENDER TOO TINY. DIDN'T HAVE SMALL ENOUGH SCREWDRIVER. OUTDOOR DOESN'T ALWAYS READ CORRECTLY. APPARENTLY I INSTALLED IT WHERE THE SUN DOES HIT ON IT BRIEFLY IN THE MORNING. CAN'T MOVE. STRIPPED SCREWS WHEN INSTALLING IT. NOW THE INDOOR TEMP READ AT ALL. OUTDOOR SENDER STOPPED A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT SEEMS TO BE WORKING NOW.

One is great; one is a dud!

Reviewed on: 3/7/2011 12:00:00 AM

We bought 2 of these. One works great, the other works well for about an hour and then the remote sensor stops sending. When I sent it back for replacement, I was told it is now on backorder!

Great

The only thing I would change about this is the "alarm" feature. I guess I could see using the alarm if you didn't have an alarm clock but for us it's annoying. We sometimes set it by mistake and we are sent scrambling over to it to try to figure how to turn it off.

Nice starter, but signal not strong

Reviewed on: 3/6/2011 12:00:00 AM

This is my very first purchase of weather information technology. I could be missing a lot of things, here. But as a newbie, these are my main thoughts: I love being able to keep track of what the temperature is in my garage and in my garden at the same time, right from my couch. It's great for deciding if the plants in the garage need to come in the house for the night. What I didn't really love what that you have to see up all the units together. So if you have 2 units, and you purchase a third, you have to take the existing 2 down and put them all together to do the set up - then you can put the 2 back and install the newest one! Also, despite the fact that the range is stated to be much farther, I can't -quite- get the base unit to receive signal when I put it about 100ft away from one of the remote transmitters. It's fine on my end table, which is about 20 feet short of where I wanted it to go. (Granted, this is through a few walls, but I would have guessed that shouldn't be an issue at less than 1/3 of the stated range.) Overall, very happy. Very user friendly, not at all intimidating.

Slow to read temperature changes

Reviewed on: 1/2/2011 12:00:00 AM

This seems fine if you always keep the stations in the same location and the temperature don't fluctuate quickly. However, if you try to see the different temperatures in different rooms or different levels of your house, it seems to take at least 10 minutes to adjust.

WEATHER AT YOUR FINGER TIPS

Reviewed on: 12/14/2010 12:00:00 AM

We purchased this product primarily for its good value, overall design and clear read outs. The external sensor is easy to install (make sure to read the location directions for best results). It was reasonably easy to configure the settings and now that the weather station is sitting on our kitchen window sill, we find ourselves checking the outdoor temp, etc every morning.

I love it!

Reviewed on: 12/14/2010 12:00:00 AM

I live in Arizona, and I really like to use this in the summer, just to know how hot it gets every day (and night!). In the winter, I do check it just to see what I should wear when I go out, especially to walk the dogs in the morning when it's still cold. I had wanted a good indoor/outdoor weather station for a long time, and this one fits the bill perfectly. It gives me the information I want at a glance, it's easy to use, and very reasonably priced. Thanks, Wind & Weather, for this great product!

4

The date is backwards

Reviewed on: 6/28/2010 12:00:00 AM

The date displays European or military style, with the day first and the month second. So 6/28 is sown as 28/6. This is masked in the picture by using 10/10 as the date.
