This elegant Elephant Coin Pendant Necklace features a coin from Eritrea, a country located in the Horn of Africa on the Red Sea. Struck in nickel-clad steel, this coin was issued for circulation in 1997 by Eritrea when it gained its independence from Ethiopia in 1991 after a thirty-year struggle for independence. The common reverse shows fighters raising the Eritrean flag, the date 1991 and the legend Liberty, Equality and Justice. The front of the genuine 100-cent coin features an elephant and her calf, while the obverse of the coin depicts an elephant and its baby. This symbolic coin hangs from a silvertone 24" chain with a lobster claw clasp. Certificate of Authenticity is included.
