    useless for measurements, looks nice.
    Comments about Product:
Attactive but useless for measuring rainfall.

1" rain received, gauge shows 0.5".

0.5" rain received, gauge doesn't move.

1.75" rain received, gauge shows 1 inch.

The measuring arm is held by a rivet with a nylon-like plastic washer.

The ball could be soaking up water and ts density changing, perhaps it is also filling with water the way the other commenter mentions.

The nylon washer seemed to respond to WD40 or Silicon spray and measure accurately for one rainfall, but it didn't last. It could also be that the rivet is placed much to tightly in their overseas manufacturing process.

I spoke with Conant about the fact that this gauge doesn't well, measure anything properly.

They let me know it is supposed to be accurate to within 1/5th of an inch.
They won't do anything to help fix mine unit but said they would look into the reports of inaccurate measures.

This is the most expensive unit in their line of rain gauges and I would hope they would take more pride in their product.

I'll buy something else attractive from a different manufacturer so that I have a rain gauge that is useful.

If you get this, it looks nice, perhaps cut the measuring arm off of it, it wil only make you angry.

    Comments about Product:
This is a beautiful rain gauge. However, we have had one issue with the glass tube. It is very fragile and will break easily. Without the glass tube, it kind of defeats the whole purpose of the rain gauge. I agree with the other reviewer, the glass tube needs to be made more durable
    Comments about Product:
This is a beautiful rain gauge and we get lots of compliments on it. There are several issues with it, though. The glass is just regular thin glass and breaks easily. It should be Pyrex or some other stronger material. Our glass broke and it took six weeks and four phone calls to get a replacement. Second, the float leaked and filled with water. I had to drill a small hole in the float, drain the water, and re-seal the hole with super glue. Third, the red coloring on the float faded completely away on top within just a few months. I had to re-paint it after the repair to restore it to its proper color. Overall, the rain gauge works and looks great, but I'd expect better quality from the manufacturer and better service from W&W.
