A majestic vision, this Bald Eagle with Sun Metal Wall Art by Bovano will be a striking addition to your décor. Hand-crafted from copper and then decorated with layers of colored glass, this sculpture from Bovano is as unique as it is beautiful, capturing the power and grace of our national bird and, truly, the symbol of the United States.
Since 1952, Bovano has been creating works of art like this bald eagle with sun sculpture using glass that is painstakingly applied and then fused to copper. It all starts with a single sheet of copper from which a variety of shapes are cut that will ultimately become the individual pieces for your Bovano sculpture. These pieces are forged and etched to create dimension and then a highly-skilled enameler powder coats each piece by hand, adding layer upon layer of beautiful color. The placement of the individual grains of powdered glass adds to the uniqueness of the pieces they create.
Once the pieces have been dusted with the powdered glass, they must be carefully transferred to the kiln which heats them to an overwhelming 1600 degrees Fahrenheit. At this high temperature, the glass becomes fused to the copper and the brilliance of the colors is achieved. Several firings may be necessary to complete each piece. Examples like this bald eagle wall art also include some areas of copper that are left without enameling to let the beauty of the metal stand on its own.
This bald eagle with sun wall sculpture is light in weight and easy to hang. Because they do not rust or fade in sunlight, they are perfectly suited for any area in your home, but are best displayed indoors only.
