The perfect solution for camping, boating, or tailgating! Weighing just 8-1/2 lbs., the fuel-efficient, stainless steel Cobb Grill uses only 8-10 charcoal briquettes for three hours of cooking. Unlike typical grills, the Cobb can roast, bake, smoke and fry while the tabletop-safe base makes it ideal for taking anywhere. You can even set it on a plastic table, car hood or balcony. Don't let the small design fool you. The Cobb Grill can cook a 4 lb. chicken in about 90 minutes.
Voted one of the best inventions of 2001 by Time Magazine, the Cobb's unique design allows fat and grease to drain into the flavor well and away from the fire for healthy cooking and smokeless fire - no dangerous flare-ups!
Comments about Product: I have a large family sized grill that I love, but I still use the Cobb when it is just my wife and myself or for up to 4 people. If you misuse the Cobb you will find it hard to clean. Try spraying oil inside the dome when you spray the cook surface. I usually pour water in the moat. Then clean up is a snap. Use self-light charcoal or better yet use an alcohol based gel. When done cooking use the lifting tool to remove the charcoal grate and dump it immediately. The grill will cool quickly and cleanup is fast.
Comments about Product: excellent build quality, very compact and portable. I tried it about four times, and found it hard to get enough heat for long enough to cook the meal. Perhaps a learning curve on my part, but... Found it very hard to clean - the ashes end up in a central depression, you can't get them out while its hot, so you can't put it away, and if you have any grease or liquid in the "moat," you have a real mess. In short, I went back to my cheap portable charcoal grill, because I didn't see enough benefit in the Cobb to justify the price.
Comments about Product: We're actually 'empty-nesters'. Bought the cooker 2.5 years ago. This cooker is unbelieveable, outrageous, good for a family reunion that has 7 siblings plus spouses and children. cool bottom a huge plus for roasting marshmallows with the kiddos. spatchcocked chicken on top and vegetables in the moat where the you-tube video had you pour the beer; everything done on time and delicious. We fed 14 people with 12 briquets. our poor 22-inch weber sits on the deck, totally unused. we used to take a rectangular weber camping. the cobb cooker outshines the weber...NEVER thought I would say that; had webers since 1976. Buy this cobb cooker-save up your birthday and Christmas money, but BUY it; experiment; have fun; use your imagination. Fantastic product. Even though I have removed 'perfect' from my vocabulary, this cooker comes awefully close.
Comments about Product: For a portable grill the COBB Grill set is a very pleasant surprise to someone used to big heavy grills that get hot and smokey and take up a lot of space. The first thing you notice is the build quality. It's all stainless steal, so clean up is a snap, and the grill surface is Teflon coated also for ease of clean up.
You notice how well thought out it's packaged, and how clear the instructions are written. The video on the Wind & Weather website was very helpful in showing the versatility of the grill as well and giving some good ideas on grilling. It's easy to use.
With just 10 briquettes it grills without smoking, yes, without smoking or flare ups. That's because any grease from your food runs off the grill into a separate mote where it doesn't cause the briquettes to smoke or flare up. The charcoal lasts much longer than a usual grill.
The bottom half of the grill remains cool to the touch all during cooking so it's safe to place it on any surface without fear of fire. That's a big deal if you're on a boat, an outdoor deck, a balcony, or even a picnic table. The carrying case is handy too. There's enough room under the dome to carry your bag of charcoal.
We are very satisfied with this grill.
